Whilst making up our travels plans on the go, we decided to visit Bolivia, home to the world-famous Uyuni Salt Flats.
We decided against going on a multi-day tour of Uyuni offered by many companies because we had already spent a considerable amount of time in the Atacama Desert prior to going to Uyuni and we preferred independent travel if it was feasible.
Instead, we splurged on a hotel by the edge of the salt flats and used the free bicycles they offered to guests and rode out deeper into the salt flats.
As the sun started to set, we were left alone. The night was cold, still and silent. The stars started coming out one by one, reminding us of how small we are in this world.
